Team Eligibility: To be eligible to tryout, girls must have an overall 2.5 GPA. Dancers must also maintain a 2.5 GPA throughout the season. All participants must complete the online application. Applications are due by Monday, April 15. Late applications will not be accepted.

UDA Dance Camp: June 25-28 - Crowne Plaza in Baton Rouge, LA
Tryout Clinic: All participants will be identified throughout the tryout process by a randomly assigned number. The girls will learn a short dance routine that they will perform on the day of tryouts. This routine will include a section of jazz, hip hop, and pom styles along with a freestyle closing of the dancers choice. All days of the tryout process are completely CLOSED to parents and spectators. There will be no filming allowed on campus. A portion of the final tryout score will be earned during the clinic based on the dancer's attitude and effort. Remember to bring a water bottle.
Clinic Attire: Dancers should wear comfortable/modest dance clothing and jazz or pirouette shoes. Midriffs must be covered. Hair should be pulled away from the face and only stud earrings may be worn. All other jewelry/watches must be removed.
Tryout: Dancers will be judged on their technique, adaptation to style, and memory of choreography. Various skills will be included in the tryout and dancers should attempt all skills with a positive attitude regardless of their level of skill mastery. Please see the included judges score sheet for a full breakdown of points and criteria.
Tryouts are completely CLOSED to parents and spectators. Independent judges, not the coaches or administration, will score the candidates. The 2024-2025 St. George Dance Team results will be emailed in the evening following tryouts on Monday, April 22 by 9:00 PM. Please make sure your FACTS email is accurate as this will be what is used to communicate results and team information by the St. George Athletic Director, Ashley Bourgeois. All dancers selected will receive further team information from the coach, Michelle Leger, on Tuesday, April 23.
Tryout Attire: Dancers should wear a fitted, solid black, modest top with black shorts and jazz or pirouette shoes. Midriffs must be covered and hair should be pulled away from the face. Only stud earrings may be worn. All other jewelry/watches must be removed.
Performances: The team will perform for home football games, pep rallies and home boys basketball games along with various other events throughout the school year as representatives of St. George School. Please know that this is a FULL year commitment.
Practice: Practices will be held two days a week beginning in August and run tentatively through March unless notified by the coach of a change or cancellation. Additional practices may be added to prepare for events.
Uniforms: Girls who are selected for the team will be required to purchase the St. George Dance Team uniform package and accessory items that total about $400 including tax and shipping. This package includes the dancers performance uniform, bodysuit, poms, ribbon, bag, practice shirts and practice shorts. Shoes are not included and will be the dancers responsibility. Financial assistance is available.
UDA Camp: All team members will attend a 4-day UDA camp during the summer to improve technique, learn personalized choreography and participate in team building sessions. The team also competes in a home routine evaluation. Camp fees are $250 per dancer. This fee will be due at uniform fittings on Wednesday, April 24.
